Journalist in different parts of the World find it hard surviving as the government of the Day keeps on pressuring the Press on what to publish.
According to World statistical of Journalist imprisoned in 2018, 251 journalists were imprisoned worldwide, the number of arrests made on journalists amounted to almost 350 and 60 journalists were kidnapped. Source – www.statista.com
Journalists have been captured and detained as punishment for criticizing a political regime or a religious ideology, persecuted for insulting those in positions of power, hunted down for images they published and shot dead simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
There are several ways at which one could survive as a Journalist when carrying out one’s assignment. Have nose for information, being secretive enough and keeping a low life without people knowing you to be a Journalist.
Journalism, in the present regime(s) of Totalitarian Dictatorships, has become a more dreaded profession to lure oneself into. To survive in a country, one has to keep a low profile just like the CIA, RAW and other secret agents across the Globe to carry out Investigative Journalism.
Mexico being the Country with the highest number of Imprisoned Journalist has taken it upon itself to scare people off Journalism, all in the name of avoidance of Governmental Suppression.
To survive as a Journalist in the 21st century. Writing, Reporting or Correspondence isn’t enough, as one has to be Smart, Intelligent, Accurate, Wise and Vigilant and Psychological and Philosophical strong to handle tedious situations one might come under.
