CIS new dean assumes office on Monday as erstwhile’s tenure lapses

The first professor of the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Prof. Adesina Lukman Azeez has succeeded Prof. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh as the new dean of the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences.

The erstwhile dean handed over to his successor on Thursday, 29th of July during a ceremony held at the faculty‘s lecture theatre.

It was learnt that the new dean will resume office as the new faculty head on Monday.

In his valedictory speech, Prof. Rasheed appreciated the efforts of the teaching and non-teaching staff who served him during his 4-year tenure as the acting and substantial dean of the faculty.

He further acknowledged Prof. W.O Egbewole (SAN), Prof. A.A. Adeoye and Dr. M.A. Akanmu for their love for the faculty particularly ‘during the challenging and turbulent moments’.

“I am absolutely convinced that with Professor Adesina Lukman Azeez coming on board, it is just a change of face. The legacies of our founding fathers and leaders still remain sacrosanct. I wish our new dean achieve resounding success,” he said.

He assured that he still remains a loyal member of the faculty and pledged his support for the growth and development of the faculty at all times.
