Ebitanmi organises walk against child labor

 500Level student of Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin joined the International Labour Organization in creating awareness for the World Day against Child Labour.

The ILO launched the World day against child labour in 2002 to focus attention on the global extent of child labour, the action and efforts needed to eliminate it and the 12th of June is the day set aside to bring millions of people around the world together to highlight the plight of victims of child labour around the world and ways of reducing this menace.

The theme of this year’s Day against Child Labour is “Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams”

The walk kicked off at Challenge round about, opposite the Federal Ministry of works, Ilorin. The walk in creating the awareness toured  Challenge and Post office making market men and women realize that Child Labour is a breach of right as defined by Article 3 of ILO Convention No. 182 which provides inter alia;

_…work which, by its nature or the circumstances in which it is carried out, is likely to harm the health, safety or morals of children._

The campaigners created the awareness on the streets of Ilorin alongside other bodies/ organizations like;
Legal Aid Clinic, University of Ilorin, Pillars of Impact, Bays planet Foundation, Female Around the world, Mind Panacea Foundation, FOMWAN,NACTAL.

The walk came to and end after the convener appreciated the volunteers that showed up and contributed to the success of the program.
