EduTrust Empowers Kwara Youths, Supports With Capital For Business Take Off

The Grassroots Education and Empowerment Scheme (GEMS), an intervention subsidized via way of means of the Educational Trust Foundation for Sustainable Development which is popularly known as EduTrust Foundation, has empowered five youths from Shaare metropolis in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

GEMS is an initiative that seeks to sell education, entrepreneurship, and empowerment of rural groups in Nigeria. The just-concluded occasion is a follow-as much as include the aftermaths of the COVID-19 pandemic in rural groups.

The team, being committed in empowering underprivileged rural women and youth had long before now visited the community to give trainings on the skills of which 5 beneficiaries were selected to commission the empowerment proper.

The team, led by Barrister Chima Osuji alongside Mr Adam Usman, and the skill instructors – Mrs Yetunde Fakorede, Mrs Sherifat Adams and Mrs Geraldine Osuji dished our business tips to run a successful enterprise.

The beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme were equipped with skills across liquid soup making, bead making, hair cream making and makeup.

The foundation released a sum of two hundred thousand naira from which The beneficiaries were given start up equipments and a sum of ten thousand Naira to aid their business takeoff after which an additional ten thousand naira will be given to the beneficiaries in three months time and an additional ten thousand naira after another three month. This is in a bid to ensure continuity and follow up for beneficiaries.

The names of the beneficiaries and skills they acquired include Salaudeen Salimot Yetunde – Liquid soap making, Suliyah Soliu – Liquid soap making, Muhammed Muizdeen – Hair cream making and Aisha Jimoh – Bead making. Of the beneficiaries, there was one male amongst them.

A heart felt gratitude was expressed by the town head and members of the community who were present at the commissioning.

The beneficiaries thanked the team and promised to impact the acquired skill to others.

Vote of thanks and group photo sessions cutting across beneficiaries, community members, parents of beneficiaries and members of the foundation ended the session.
