EPEX is a competition organized by NUESA Unilorin chapter. It is a program where students in the field of engineering from University of Ilorin and other Universities across Nigeria are invited to showcase their project.
In an interview with ADEBOYE, Gbenga Adedamola a 500level student of the department of electrical and electronic engineering and also the president of Nigeria Universities Engineering Students Association (Unilorin chapter). He made it known that the first edition held in 2015 and it was actually created as a platform for final year students to showcase their final year projects to student of the faculty.
He said; we always encourage students coming for the projects exhibition to put in place necessary measures to avoid intellectual property theft through patenting their innovations and ideas with right authorities. This will prevent anyone from stealing their ideas and innovation during the cause of the exhibition. He further said that, non-engineering students can participate in the exhibition. As long as the project solves engineering related problems.
The grand finale for this year’s EPEX is scheduled to hold on the 17th June, 2019 where the top 8 projects selected during the preliminary stage will be displayed and the best top 3 projects will be rewarded with cash prizes ranging from #150,000 to #50,000. Other prize categories such as most innovative and most economically viable will also be awarded. The staffs and students of the university are enjoined to grace the program.
