The Human Rights Chambers, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin is set to hold another celebration of the annual World Human Rights Day. The celebration which comes up every December 10th is usually held to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which came up on December 10th, 1948.
This year’s celebration, with the theme POLICE BRUTALITY, shall feature an online campaign, radio awareness sessions, an oratory contest for secondary schools within Kwara state, and a conference which shall be held at the University Auditorium, on the 10th of December, 2021.
Dignitaries who at one point or the other, have been at the forefront of the fight for the protection of human rights from the country shall be present. The event shall also have in attendance the Attorney-General of Kwara State, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, the Kwara State Coordinator, Legal Aid Council, the Head of the National Human Right’s Commission, Kwara state, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch and other legal practitioners of high repute. Various tertiary institutions, faculties, and departments within the University community are also invited.
It should be recalled that there have been various celebrations of World Human Rights Day by the Human Rights Chambers, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin in 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively.
