Grandeur and Nostalgia as Ambali bows out…
It was an atmosphere mixed with glamour and nostalgia on October 13th, 2017, at the Vice Chancellor’s press briefing which punctuates the beginning of the 33rd convocation ceremonies of the University of Ilorin.
The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali in his address to the members of fourth estate of the realm titled “You are great,” recounts his numerous achievements in the last five years while he held sway as the number one citizen of the University to wit; human capacity development, excellence in research, education and learning amongst several other landmark achievements during his tenure.
He expressed gratitude to all and sundry who had in one way or the other supported his administration upon his assumption of office since October, 2012.
In the same vein, Prof. Ambali highlighted the events as planned for the 33rd convocation ceremony.
The Vice Chancellor noted that he is full of fate the the Vice Chancellor designate, Prof. Abdulkareem Age would take the university to an enviable height as he hands over to him some official documents and noting that come monday, he, the new vice chancellor would assume office.
Ancillary to the press briefing was the public presentation and launching of the book titled “The Ambali Years: A Chronicle of the Landmark Achievements of Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali 2012-2017” written by the image maker of the university, Mr. Kunle Akogun.
The book which was objectively reviewed by a former spokesman to the late President Umaru Musa Yaradua, Mr Olusegun Adeniyi chronicled the achievements of Ambali as the ninth vice chancellor of the university of Ilorin over the years in review.
The briefing unveiled the new librarian, Dr. Isah who was discharging his first duty therein as he takes over from his predecessor, Dr. Joseph Omoniyi. It also featured a short poem interlude in Yoruba by Mr. Idris Aloma.
The event was attended by creme de la creme of the society viz a viz the Vice Chancellor of Alhikmah university, Prof Taufeeq, the chairman of the Ilorin Emirate descendants progressive union (IEDPU) amongst several other dignitaries.
