The 300 levels mass communication students under the faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin on Wednesday engaged in a cleaning exercise of the faculty and its environment.
The exercise was an offshoot of the combination of two courses — Community Relations and International Communications — both under the department of Mass Communication.
The exercise which had in attendance more than one hundred students and seven lecturers.
The head of department, Dr L.K Mustapha gave the opening speech where he spoke about having a clean environment which in turn leads to good health. He weaved his speech to a relevant goal of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Also present at the exercise was the Dean of the faculty, Dr R.G Jimoh who is also a member of Computer Engineers in Nigeria. While declaring the exercise open, Dr Jimoh enounciated the enormous benefits of having a conducive environment for learning, saying learning cannot be achieved without a conducive environment.
Dr Jimoh appreciated the Head of Department for his good leadership skills and how it has yielded good fruit. He also emphasized on how lucky the department is to have good mentors.
The Sub Dean of the faculty, Dr Udende; the Head of Department, Dr L.K Mustapha; Mrs Mustapha, Dr Mrs Abdulbaqi, Level Adviser Dr Gaffar Arikewuyo and Dr Raheem Adedoyin were among the personalities that partook in the exercise.
