The leadership of the Legal Aid Clinic held a Capacity Building Session for its members on Saturday 7th of August, 2021 in her conference hall at the Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin.
In furtherance of its principal objectives, the session was conducted to facilitate the clinician’s proficiency in client counseling, drafting of affidavits, as well as cues on proper email etiquette.
The session on legal client counseling was anchored by Tunji-Lawal and Mary Olaniyan, while the Clinic Manager, Isiaka Azeez, and Mr. Yusuf Olalere Esq, an associate at Olaniwun Ajayi LP facilitated the affidavits and email training respectively.
Mr. Tunji-lawal gave an extensive lecture on what client counseling entails and the necessary parameters that should guide persons conducting a counseling exercise. Mary Olaniyan provided viable insights on how to conduct oneself in such situations.
Amid his lectures, Mr. Azeez remarked that a lawyer is not allowed to depose an affidavit. He also described how to draft a proper affidavit as required by law. In summary, Mr. Yusuf gave highlights of what a formal email setting entails.
