The final three players for the prestigious Golden Boy award have been named, with Kylian Mbappe, Gabriel Jesus and Ousmane Dembele all making the cut.
The Golden Boy is an award that is given by sports journalists to a young football player playing in Europe perceived to have been the most impressive during a calendar year (two halves to two separate seasons). All nominees must be under the age of 21 and play in a European nation’s top tier.
Last year’s winner was Renato Sanches, who is currently on loan at Swansea City from Bayern Munich.
Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is among the prominent candidates who have been turned down.
