For the 2019 faculty elections, the university of Ilorin faculty of engineering students association under the aegis of the Nigerian University Engineering Students Association, NUESA, has adopted electronic voting system for this year’s elections into the offices of the faculty students’ association.
In addition, the faculty’s student colleagues who are on their industrial training experience, IT program, would be voting through the provided online platform, www.nisec2019.com
This was made known today by the chairman of the Association’s electoral umpire, Comrade Olawoyin Enitan Isaac at Lecture Theatre III shortly after the presentation of manifestos and presidential debate organised by the electroral body for the contestants into the various polical offices.
“Faculty of Engineering has always known to be the pioneer, at top edge in the electioneering process in the school…we have the data base of every student in the faculty gotten through the office of the faculty officer”
“The passwords will be generated real-time, no one knows about these passwords, not even the chairman and the programmer; electorates walk straight to the computer, select their matric number as we already have it on our server. 6-digit alpha-numerical password would be generated (for them to have access to voting)
“There is provision for standby power supply to avoid issues of power failure”, Olawoyin explained.
According to the list released, a copy of which was given to UCJ-UNILORIN, 30 individuals inclusive of the presidential aspirants were vying for one position or the other.
Aspirants for the coveted seat of president, Amadi Emmanuel Ugochukwu and Bamigbola Dapo John tongued their agenda into the minds of the electorates by a fierced verbal eloquence to the tune of the moderators of the debate program, the members of Seven Sense.
Contrary to the president office, position of vice president and that of General Secretary are to be run unopposed to Agboola Zainab Titilope and Faji Oluwatobiloba Samuel, respectively.
Departments of Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering, Electrical Electronics engineering, Agric and Bio System Engineering, Chemical engineering, Biomedical engineering, Water Resources and Environmental engineering, Material and metallurgical engineering, Computer engineering, Food and Bio Process Engineering are respectively the departments under the faculty.
