Faculty of Life Science overturned environmental Science early lead after coming from behind to win by 3-1 in the opening match on Friday at Maracana 2.
Environmental Science found the net in the first ten minutes of the game. Five minutes before half time, a solo effort from Life Science striker helped level the scores.
After their not encouraging first half display, Life science dominated the second half by winning a early penalty following their striker who was brought down inside the box by opponent defender.
Not long after scoring the penalty, they sealed the match by scoring a controversial third goal which was claimed to be offside. Appeals from the opposing team proved abortive as the referee and the assistant referee refused to rule out the goal.
In other fixtures, Faculty of Arts whips Clinical science 3-0, Agricultural Science sneak past Pharmaceutical Science 1-0, and Social Science lost 0-2 to CIS.
In group A, Faculty of Arts stays on top of the log with 3 points and 3 goals, followed by Life Sciences also with 3 points and 2 goals. Environmental Science and Clinical Science maintain 3rd and 4th spot respectively with no point.
CIS tops group B with 3 points and 2 goals. Agric Science stays second with 3 points and a goal while Pharmaceutical Science and Social Science are in 3rd and 4th position with no point.
Other matches scheduled for today have been postponed till further notice due to Sallah break.
