A case has been instituted in the Students’ Union Court challenging the conferment of the prestigious rank of the Senior Advocate of the Union on one Mr. Kalejaiye Musa Olamilekan, who serves as the President of the Tax Club, University of Ilorin.
The matter, which was instituted by one Mr. Okwara Lawrence of the Law Faculty of the University, seeks to challenge the competence of the Mr. Kalejaiye to attain the prestigious rank.
The claimant sued Mr. Kalejaiye alongside the Senate Council, Body of Benchers and the Legal Practitioners Previleges Committee, which is the body vested to recommend persons to the Senate Council for the conferment of the prestigious rank.
Mr. Kalejaiye Musa, in his pleminary objection to strike out and dismiss the case, argued that the claimant lacked the legal right to institute the case before the court and that the committee that was involved in the conferment has been long dissolved after his conferment.
The case, which is to be heard by 4:00 pm on Friday, 17th of January, 2020, is purportedly hinged on political reasons to further disqualify persons from being ratified for the rank of the Attorney General of the Students’ Union at the Senate Council sitting which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 18th of January, 2020.
