ETHIOPIA, ONE OF THE TWO COUNTRIES THAT WAS NEVER COLONIZED IN AFRICA.

There are two countries in Africa that hold the reputation of never having been colonized. These are Ethiopia and Liberia. Many people are for the opinion that, since Italy occupied Ethiopia militarily from 1936 to 1941 (as claimed by Italy), its history is not clear of colonization.
Two great elements that aided Ethiopia ensuring that it was never really colonized was that Ethiopia was a well established, thousands year old Empire with a tough military (which it still has to this day), diplomatic connections, international friends and a very important one, established documentation methods and a robust literature culture (they could read and write in their own alphabet known today as the ge’ez script) which helped them with protecting themselves from Italian machinations on matters. A common method of European powers proving that Africans had agreed to be colonized was that, the Europeans would draft agreements stating how local African chiefs had ceded their territories to the Europeans and that they were okay with the soon to be new order. The chiefs would be deceived into signing by inked fingerprints or forced to do it under duress. Unluckily for Italy, they chose the wrong subject.
Ethiopia was also a member of the League of Nations. Eitherway, Italy couldn’t beat Ethiopia at war to be able to colonize it.
