Trump plans own social media app after Twitter-Facebook ostracism

Donald Trump, the ex-president of the US, is planning a comeback with his own social media app, months after he faced large-scale ostracism from Twitter, Facebook, and many other platforms.

Twitter and Facebook had suspended accounts belonging to Trump after he was said to have violated its policy with comments he made on the violence that hit the US Congress ahead of Joe Biden’s confirmation and inauguration.

Other social media platforms including Parler, YouTube, Snapchat, and Twitch had faced similar public pressure to place a form of restriction on the ex-president over concerns about him inciting violence due to his election loss.

Jason Miller, Trump’s adviser, spoke to Fox News on the prospect of Trump’s return. Miller said the ex-president will use his own platform which “will be the hottest ticket in social media” and “completely redefine the game”.

“It’s interesting that Trump has been off social media for a while because his press statements have been getting more play than they ever did on Twitter before. I’m sure of that because their length has been longer,” he said.

“I do think we’re going to see Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months here. This is something that is going to be the hottest ticket on social media. It’s going to completely redefine the game.”

According to Miller, Trump has been approached by multiple companies willing to work with him on his idea.

“Everyone is going to be waiting to see what exactly president Trump does but it will be his own platform. I can’t go much further than what I was able to just share but I can say that it will be big once he starts,” the adviser added.

“There’s been a lot of high power meetings he’s been having at Mar-A-Lago with some teams of folks who’ve been coming in. And I got to tell you what has been. It’s not just one company that has approached the president.

“There’ve been numerous companies but I think the president doesn’t know what direction that he wants to head. And this new platform is going to be big. He’s going to bring tens of millions of people to this new platform.”
