Trump Tweet: All’s well

2 min read

It looks like the President is in high spirits after what he terms a successful visit to Vietnam and the ASEAN Summit on Trade, where he spoke about everything except the human rights violations that happen in the country, He also nominated his a Health Secretary and wondered why Obama care still exists!
🐦 Just landed in the Philippines after a great day of meetings and events in Hanoi, Vietnam!
🐦 We had a wonderful visit to Vietnam, thank you President Tran Dai Quang! Heading to the ASEANSummit 50th Anniv Gala in the Philippines now.
🐦 Thank you!
🐦 Great day of bilateral meetings at ASEANSummit on trade, which we are turning around to be great deals for our country!
Trump has pushed for equitable trade deals and opted to prioritise strategic interests over human rights during a meeting with Philippines leader Rodrigo Duterte in Manila. The president repeatedly praised Duterte, pointedly calling him by his first name, sharing a joke about the media and even complimenting Manila’s weather. What he did not do was what many predecessors have done before: highlight human rights abuses while overseas.
🐦 Will be leaving the Philippines tomorrow after many days of constant mtgs & work in order to MAGA! My promises are rapidly being fulfilled.
🐦 Happy to announce, I am nominating Alex Azar to be the next HHS Secretary. He will be a star for better healthcare and lower drug prices!
Trump nominated Azar, a former top pharmaceutical executive and George W. Bush health official, to lead the US Department of Health and Human Services after his initial pick, Tom Price, was forced to step down following an ethics scandal.
🐦 I am proud of the Rep. House & Senate for working so hard on cutting taxes {& reform.} We’re getting close! Now, how about ending the unfair & highly unpopular Indiv Mandate in OCare & reducing taxes even further? Cut top rate to 35% w/all of the rest going to middle income cuts?
The demand from Trump is nothing new, but it has been mostly ignored so far by congressional leaders as they try to hold together a fragile coalition of Republicans that can help push these bills into law.
Trump wants the tax cut bills to repeal a requirement of the Affordable Care Act known as the “individual mandate,” which sets up penalties if Americans don’t have health insurance. Repealing that provision would save more than $300 billion, budget officials have said, and Trump wants that money to be used to offset more tax cuts.
