Two Deaf students from the University of Ilorin have emerged winners of the recently concluded essay contest which was organised by the National Association of Nigerian Deaf Students (NANDS).

The news was disclosed on NANDS Facebook page showing two participants from the University of Ilorin, Okoh Vincent Tochukwu (Department of Physics Education) and Esther Abimbola (Department of Animal Science) who emerged 2nd Place and 3rd Place respectively.

The topic of the essay was “The Importance of Early Intervention to the Literacy Success of Deaf Students.”

It was learned that earlier this month, NANDS, an apex association that unifies Deaf students across various tertiary institutions organised an essay writing contest for Nigerian Deaf students in commemoration of International Literacy Day, 2021.
