The UCJ Unilorin in conjunction with the Student’s Union University of Ilorin had her freshers’ oratory contest on the 23rd and 27th of August, 2021 for The preliminary and finale which was held at the University Auditorium basement and the main university Auditorium respectively.

The contest which had the participants speak on “Restriction on fundamental Liberties; a necessary strategy towards public order or an indication to Authoritarian leadership” and “Agitations on self-development; attestation towards Nigeria’s failure or a passing phase towards Nigeria’s collective unity and development” for the preliminary and the finale had in attendance Faculty presidents some of which were represented, as well as some Student’s union representatives.

It’s a word battle amongst fifteen faculties on campus which were ably represented at the Preliminary stage but Seven persons from different faculties made it to the finale which is; Ibrahim, Ololade Hikmah( faculty of life science); Sulaiman Maryam Adedoyin (faculty of Education); Yekin Muhammed Robiu Akanni (faculty of Agriculture); Aberuagba Fawaz Abdulwasiu(faculty of law); Suleiman Fatihat olamide( faculty of veterinary medicine); Shittu Barakat Eniola (faculty of Engineering); Omoniyi Grace (faculty of social science); Olorede Omolola Omowumi( faculty of Arts); Olorunyomi Covenant ( medicine) and Godwin, Jonathan ( CIS)

Be that as it may, after allowing each participant to speak for 4 minutes, Yekin Muhammed Robiu Akanni from the faculty of Agriculture; Omoniyi Grace from faculty of social science; and God Jonathan from the faculty of CIS( communication and information sciences) emerged the second runner up, First runner up and winner respectively.
