Unilorin claims top spots in poetry unlimited

Two presentatives from the University of Ilorin, Adewara Joses and Muhammed Sobur, emerged the winner and first runner-up respectively at the second edition of the Poetry Unlimited.

The Poetry contest which was organized by Jimoh Toheeb Mayowa, a 300 level student of Political Science, University of Ilorin had tertiary institutions across Kwara State in participation, with over 30 poets in contention.

Abdullateef Olanrewaju, from Kwara State University emerged as the second runner-up.

According to the convener, the theme of the contest; Your Brain: Not Her Skimpy Dress, was used as a magnifying glass to bring to public the negativities inherent In sexual harassment.

Toheeb organized this to serve as a platform and give opportunity to students who have penchant for poetry to showcase their poetic prowess.

In attendance were guest speakers like Otto Matthew, amongst others.
