Unilorin Dazzles at National Moot Competition By Chima Osuji

Law students of the University of Ilorin have emerged second at the just concluded national moot competition organised by the Nigerian Society of International Law. It was held at the Great Prestige Hotel, Benin City, Edo State.

The two-day event (November 22 to 23) which had the theme: ‘Security Human Trafficking and International Law’, was a part of the activity designed to commemorate the 41st Annual Meeting of the Society.

Team Unilorin made it to the finals after scaling through the preliminary stage comprising all Nigerian universities. Participation was by submission of written heads of argument out of which the best four teams were shortlisted to lock horns in the semi final and final stages of the competition.

It should be noted that the finals was between the University of Ilorin as Applicant versus the University of Uyo as Respondent. In addition, Age Babalola University was the second runner up while Ambrose Ali University finished as the third runner up.

Justice Olukayode Ola Ogunjobi of the Lagos State High Court presided over the competition, as supported by Dr. Debo Olagunju and Dr. Askia Karibi White.

Members of the Unilorin delegation include: Dr. Azubike Onuora-Oguno (Team Coach), Opeoluwa Sanni, Ibrahim Haroon and Hamida Kwajafa.
