The Legal Aid Clinic, University of Ilorin had inaugurated its newest set of executives and managers, for the 2021/2022 academic session. The inauguration was held on Friday, 28th of May, 2021.
The inauguration, which had Isiaka Azeez Ayinde as the new Clinic Manager, had the attendance of the Clinic Staff Adviser, Dr. Lukman Ayinla, the outgoing Clinic Manager, Mr. Olaoba Mayowa, clinicians and Legal Aid enthusiasts present. The inauguration was held at the Bakery Restaurant, University of Ilorin.
The inauguration ceremony also included the inauguration of new clinicians into the Clinic, who were selected after a rigorous recruitment process. The other inaugurated executives include Olaniyan Mary (Deputy Clinic Manager), Gold Khadijat (General Secretary), Baiyeshea John (Office Manager), Akintola Abduljalal (Director of Litigation I), Dauda Sarumi (Director of Litigation II), Ajide Yusuf (Director, Freedom of Information), Muhammad Faizah (Director of Street Law), Mohammed Sesan (Librarian), John-Kalio Peace (Assistant Secretary) and Ibinuhi Omotayo Oluwabunmi (Financial Secretary).
The Legal Aid Clinic is an organization poised to improve access to legal representation and aid to non-previledged members of the society to ensure balanced and fair legal representation. The Clinic has been directed by eminent legal practitioners like Oke Ridwan, John Omotunde and Ishaq Apalando.
The Clinic Adviser, Dr. Lukman Ayinla, enjoined the newly inaugurated executives and clinicians to be committed to promoting Clinic values and should raise the bar of legal activism and representation. The outgoing Clinic Manager, Mr. Olaoba Mayowa, also lent his words by enjoining the clinicians and executives to raise the bar of the ideals of the Clinic, towards ensuring that the objectives of the Clinic are being met.
