Unilorin Rotaract Club Ushers in new leadership; inducts BoD, new members

The university of Ilorin chapter of Rotaract Club International, a daughter body of Rotary Club International has on Saturday November 17th 2018 at the expiration of the immediate past administration, installed a new leadership to marshal the club’s affairs for the next one year.


The investiture ceremony of the club’s new ‘Inspirational’ president, Rotaractor Olarewaju Hanifat Adenike which took place in the university auditorium, Unilorin also witnessed the inductions of the new Board of Directors and the greenhorns into the fold of the club.


The immediate past President, Rtr. Ismaheel WaliuLlahi while giving his valedictory speech acknowledged the supports enjoyed by his administration from the fellow Rotaractors, the Rotary Club of Ilorin and other individual Rotarians.


According to him, “A tree cannot make a forest…on this note, I will also tender my utmost appreciation to my able board of directors for their supports and their sacrifice…The projects were not achieved in isolation rather it was through the collective effort of the entire members of Rotaract Club Ilorin”


He further acknowledged the support from the mother body of the club, Rotary Club, specifically, the Rotary Club of Ilorin. “I sincerely appreciate the support and words of encouragement through the thick and thin”, The immediately past president further said. 


Subsequently, in her acceptance speech, the new invested president, 500 level student of Law, Rtr. Olarewaju Hanifat Adenike expressed her gratitude and happiness for the new position. According to her, “It is a privilege to be installed as the ‘Inspirational’ President and the 34th president of the better-by-far club, Rotaract Club of University of Ilorin.”


Hanifat however in the course of her speech pointed out areas her administration would focus; In her words, “We intend to carry out series of projects full of impacts  as highlighted in the proposed projects for the year’s section, some of which include: giving scholarship to indegent students of the University of Ilorin…, donation of textbooks, writing materials and first aid kits to Jalala  Junior Secondary School; University of Ilorin free eye test and follow-up treatment to students; visitation and donation of relief materials to the University of Ilorin Teaching hospital…” The new president said.


In the concluding part of her speech, she expressed a profound optimism that the administration under her leadership would  perform beyond expectations. “I pray and believe that we will excel and perform beyond all and every trust reposed in us and my valedictory speech next year, by God’s grace, will be to share our success story to the world.” She optimised.


In the same vein, as part of the program, the invited guest speaker, Ms Yemisi Adeojo, in the course of her speech enjoined youths to be active in helping others. According to her: “Look for ways to positively contribute to wherever you find yourself; make someone else’s life better no matter where you find yourself”


Ms Yemisi Adeojo also stated the importance of seeking opportunities rather than sitting idly, creating connections and helping people regardless of how little the help might be.


“Your presence online can open a lot of doors of opportunities for you” She tipped


As an endnote of her speech, Adeojo challenged the youth to be part of positive movements around them.


Meanwhile, awards giving in recognitions of some personalities’ excellence performances in humanitarian services also featured greatly in the course of the ceremony. 


Amongst the personalities awarded the plaques of honour in recognition of their excellent roles in humanitarian works were: The University of Ilorin Director of Health Services, Dr Rasheed Adekeye Odunola; A chartered Estate Surveyor who is the Chief Estate Officer and Head of the Estate Unit, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Mr Sahid Baba; these two personalities were awarded “Excellence in Humanitarian Services” and “on Special Recognition, respectively.
