The Unilorin Football club (Unilorin Warriors) has qualified from the round of 16 stages of the HIFL tournament after a 1-1 draw and a win of one goal to nil (1 -0) with the Kogi State steelers at Kogi State sports complex on Wednesday 14th of July, 2021 and Unilorin main bowl respectively.
It was a great awakening at the Unilorin main bowl on Wednesday the 11th of August 2021 as Unilorin welcomes the Kogi State steelers after a draw play of 1 – 1 at the Ayangba stadium.
The match ended with a victory on the side of the host players (Unilorin Warriors) on a brilliant goal scored by the Warrior’s ever-ready striker Michael Fashanu Ifeoluwa in the 73rd minutes of the game. who also scored at the away draw against the Kogi State.
The victory automatically qualifies the Unilorin warriors to the next stage of the tournament to face FUTMINA. History has it that Unilorin Warriors have won a bronze medal in the 2019 edition of the HIFL after beating OAU giants on a penalty shoot-out. In a nutshell, one can tell that the pace at which the Warriors are moving could fetch them a Gold medal and a trophy in the long run.
In an interview with Mr. Gambari the presiding coach of the Unilorin warriors by Yemi Sodeeq a correspondent from Owosports, he says,
“I know the kind of player we paraded. They are very serious in training and they always listen to instructions. I have confidence in them and I believe that we are going to win the title this year.”
